Chivda is a snack which is made of roasted poha along with groundnuts, cashews, dry coconut, etc. It is one of the item prepared on the occassion of Diwali.
Ingredients
250 gms Thin Poha
125 gms Groundnuts
50 gms Dry coconut (grated or cut in thin strips)
8-10 cashews
Handful of khara boondi (optional)
Salt to taste
1 tbsp sugar
To temper
5 tbsp oil
2 tbsp mustard seeds
1 tbsp sesame seeds (til)
1/2 tsp hing
25-30 curry leaves
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
2-3 green chilies
Method
Roast poha batch by batch on low flame.When thin pohas will curl a bit it is done.Transfer it to another pan & let it cool. After it cools it should have a crunchy taste.
Dry roast groundnuts, coconut, cashew separately & keep aside.
Now take oil in pan.When the oil is hot, put each ingredient in the given order mustard seeds, sesame seeds, hing, green chilies, curry leaves, cashews, groundnuts, coconut, turmeric, salt & sugar. Mix it well & then lower the flame.
Add the roasted pohas & mix it gently. Add khara boondi if available. Turn off the heat & allow the chivda to cool. Once cooled can be stored in airtight container for month long.
