Prawns Masala

Prawns Masala is an easy to make semi gravy dish which does not require too much pre planning. I have not used any garam masala in this recipe. The masala should not overpower the flavour of prawns.





Ingredients

15 large size prawns

2-3 chopped onions

1 tsp Green masala ( 3-4 green chillies, coriander leaves & 6-7 garlic flakes)

1/2 tsp turmeric powder

2 tsp red chilly powder

1 tsp Tamarind pulp Pinch of hing ( asafoetida)

Salt to taste

2 tbsp oil


Method

Devein & clean the prawns. Marinate it with turmeric, red chilly, green masala, tamarind & salt. Keep it aside for 15-20 minutes.

Heat oil in pan. Add a pinch of hing. Throw in chopped onions & saute for 2 minutes.Then add some turmeric powder & mix well. Cover & cook for 5-7 minutes. Do not add too much water while cooking the onions as it is semi gravy dish.


When the onions are cooked mix the marinated prawns. Cook for just 5 minutes. Do not overcook prawns as it will get tough. Turn off the heat.

Garnish with chopped coriander leaves. Prawns masala is ready. Can be served with chapati, bhakri or roti.
