Solkadhi is famous drink from coastal regions of Maharashtra Solkadhi is made with a fruit called Kokam or aamsul and coconut milk. It is one of the popular summer drinks. It is absolutely refreshing and known for its cooling powers. Its tastes tangy, spicy enriched with coconut flavour. It is usually had after meals & it is known for its digestive properties.
Ingredients
8-10 Kokam petals
3 cups coconut milk
5-6 garlic flakes
1 green chilly
1/4 tsp sugar (optional)
Coriander leaves
Salt to taste
Method
Soak kokam petals in warm water for 10-15 minutes.
Extract coconut milk by grinding coconut in grinder 2-3 times. Filter it through muslin cloth. Ready coconut milk can also be used for this purpose. But fresh coconut milk gives the best taste.
Now mix the kokam water extract with coconut milk. Add garlic & chilly paste. Add salt to taste & sugar.Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
Serve it chilled. It is an accompaniment with seafood dishes most of the times. But can be relished with any cuisine.
Tip : Fresh Kokam petals gives the rich pink colour.
